Abstract
He Uru Mānuka, He Uru Kānuka is an environmental art project by Artists for Waiapu Action (AWA). The project reinvigorates a customary Waiapu River fishing method that has not been practised for many decades: the pā tauremu.
He Uru Mānuka, He Uru Kānuka was launched in the Waiapu River in April 2023 and presented as part of ‘The 11th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ in Brisbane from November 2024 to April 2025. The Triennial is the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art’s internationally recognised flagship exhibition series.
