Abstract
Examines the potential use of 'indigizines' in high school English learning. Considers whether encouraging expression through such zines might address the effects of colonial rule. Delves into the nature of 'story' for indigenous people; defines what a zine is; and outlines the author's coining of the term indigizine and how such zines might be used by indigenous and marginalized communities to resist Western ideologies. Describes the making and content of the author's own indigizine 'Hine-nui-te-pō's vagina: a feminist indigizine' Source: National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Matauranga o Aotearoa, licensed by the Department of Internal Affairs for re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 New Zealand Licence.
