Abstract
Explores the use of the concept of whakapapa, the interconnectedness of human relationships and commonalities, in teaching English. Describes the concept and how it fits into the Maori worldview, how it might be used in discussions of technology or student understanding, and gives an example of how a short story might be viewed differently through a Marxist, feminist or whakapapa reading.
