Expertise

I am an experienced freshwater ecologist who has expertise in connecting mātauranga Māori to dominant science. My PhD research focused on understanding the physicochemical drivers of bloom formation of a toxic, benthic cyanobacteria called Phormidium. I have worked more broadly to understand the health of aquatic ecosystems using scientific methods, including assessing benthic macroinvertebrate communities and water chemistry
