Expertise

My research expertise and lifetime commitment has centred around Māori performing arts including composition, performance, contemporary poetry and the role of kapa haka in the revitalisation of te reo Māori and identity creation. In addition, I work to elevate the ritual roles of Māori women through karanga, tā moko and performing arts. I have also been involved in researching the acquisition of te reo Māori in early childhood.
